2026 Intermediate Studio Practice VIS2032
Project type
Studio Work across Ceramics and Sculpture
Date
May 2026
Location
UNISQ, Toowoomba, SE Queensland, Australia
This first half of 2026 study focuses on expanding both technical skill and conceptual development through an increasingly independent studio practice. Building on earlier foundations, the work explores personal areas of interest across sculpture, and ceramics.
Through lectures, workshops, critiques, and consultations, the course encourages experimentation with materials, processes, and contemporary ideas. The studio becomes a space for reflection and storytelling, where materials such as clay, wire, ink, paint, found objects, and natural forms are used to communicate emotion and lived experience.
Themes of memory, resilience, identity, and connection to nature emerge throughout the body of work. Many pieces explore the relationship between fragility and strength, using texture, layering, and process-led techniques to create works that hold quiet narratives.
Research into contemporary artists and global art practices also inform the development of the work, encouraging connections between personal stories and broader cultural conversations. This year is strengthening both technical ability and conceptual understanding while continuing to shape an evolving creative voice grounded in experimentation, reflection, and material exploration.
