The Forgotten Pumpkin is a wearable sculpture created in response to a deeply personal exploration of identity, memory, and belonging. Built around a wire armature and shaped through layers of fabric, tulle, and sculptural elements, the work transforms an early childhood wound into a powerful visual narrative.
The sculpture stems from a moment in my life when I stopped being “the princess” in my family and instead became the forgotten child — the “pumpkin.” The dress form, rounded and oversized, holds this history gently, while the sharp metal coils rising from the headpiece protect the wearer from being hurt again. The contrast between softness and armour reflects the tension of growing up unseen, yet still longing for love, connection, and magic.
Wearing The Forgotten Pumpkin allowed me to step inside that story, reclaim it, and reshape it. The work becomes an act of healing and transformation: taking something painful and turning it into something expressive, bold, and undeniably present. It is both a memory and a declaration — that what was once forgotten can rise again, stronger and beautifully remade.
